The SYM Together Festival” A Celebration of Skills”

The  CLD Trusts STRONG YOUNG MINDS programme is putting on an amazing festival from the 26th-28th August! The SYM Together Festival” A Celebration of Skills” will bring together videos and live activities, all organised by the SYM Champions. There are so many opportunities to get involved: in person, virtually, and  before and after the festival. Take a look at the festival line-up below!


26th August

10:00 – 11:30 Free Zoom Webinar ‘A Parent’s Guide to Teens’ Mental Health’

In this webinar parents will hear about the changes taking place in teenagers brains and why they behave and think the way they do. Learn useful strategies on how to support adolescent mental health and wellbeing.

27th August

10:00 – 11:30 Virtual Q and A Panel – The Upside of Mental Health – Inspiration for Young People.

If you’d love to put your questions to an artist experienced in supporting young people with mental health illnesses, a counsellor who has had their own experiences of mental health, a yoga teacher, who specialises in sensory yoga for autism and anxiety, and an inspiring careers advisor – please tune in!

 13:00 Podcast ‘Life Alongside Mental Health

Created by SYM Champions, this will be an interview-style podcast aiming to create an awareness and understanding of how people build their lives alongside their  mental health difficulties  and what sort of things they do to try and improve their everyday lives  – it promises to be an inspiring listen.

15:00 Cooking Session

Lockdown has brought out the chef in many of us, so why not try your hand at making some fresh, healthy and delicious scones with Nathan?

We’ll be premiering a video over on our YouTube channel so mark it in your diaries, gather together the ingredients and join in with us!


17:00 Hobby Video

We want to make a short video of young people engaged in their hobbies or talking about their interests. The things you do which has a positive impact on your wellbeing.

If you’d like to take part send us a short video clip. Whether its   hula hooping , acrobatics , making, sewing , juggling, painting, cooking or kicking a football, send it in to us.

  • It should be a short video, no longer than 30 seconds
  • Shot in landscape mode.
  • A short sentence saying how the hobby helps your mental health and wellbeing.

Send to via WeTransfer, ideally by 25th August.


19:00 Music Videos/Open Mic

What’s a festival without music? We’re doing our own version of an ‘open mic’, using pre-recorded songs YOU have sent in.

If you want to join in, please send your own songs, ditties and ballads to as MP4 files. Recorded in landscape format on your phone.

28th August

09:30 – 17:00 – A packed day at Hellens Manor in Much Marcle (respecting social distancing) full of activities all about connecting with nature!

Games / Multi-Sensory Earth Walk / Leaf Cinema / Meditation & Relaxation / Ceramics Workshop / Foot Print Exercise
